FAQ

Questions and answers about accounts, pricing and top-ups, usage, data and business use. Details are on each page.

Account

Do I need an Echo AI Hub account?

Yes. You use it with an Echo AI Hub account (a free Basic membership). You can sign up on either site, and it is the same account.

What changes with the membership tier?

Premium members get a discount on prices. Discount: 12.5%

Payment

How are prices decided?

For each request, an amount based on the number of tokens used (the unit in which a model counts text) is deducted from your balance. How it is calculated is in Pricing and top-ups.

Am I charged for requests that fail?

Requests rejected before being sent to the upstream API, for example because of a wrong key or an insufficient balance, are free. Other cases are covered in Pricing and top-ups.

Balance and expiry

Does a topped-up balance expire?

Topped-up balances expire after 180 days, and balances granted as bonus credit after 90 days. The balance that expires first is used first. Details are in Pricing and top-ups.

Can I get a refund?

[ ]

How can I avoid spending too much?

You can set a spending limit for each API key. When your balance is used up, requests are stopped. However, the limit and the balance are checked against an estimated price before a request is sent, so the price can go over the limit or the balance. If you send several requests at the same time, each of them passes the check, and the excess can be more than one request. The excess is deducted from your balance, and a negative balance is deducted from your next top-up. To keep the excess small, send fewer requests at the same time. Details are in Limits and rate limits.

Invoices

Do you support invoice payment and qualified invoices?

Invoice payment for businesses and qualified invoices (適格請求書) are in preparation. Registration number: [ ]

Usage

Can I use the OpenAI or Anthropic SDK as is?

Yes. Swap the base URL, the API key and the model ID. How to write it is in the Quickstart.

Can I use it with tools such as Claude Code and Codex CLI?

Claude Code, Codex CLI and LangChain have been tested in Echo's test environment. For Cursor, Cline and Dify we provide setup steps, but they have not been tested. Claude Code uses Claude models.

Are there rate limits?

Yes. They are counted per account. The values are in Limits and rate limits.

Data

Where is the data I send processed?

For each model, the API it goes through and the processing region are shown on the model's page. Details are in Data handling.

Is the data I send stored? Is it used for training?

The text of successful requests and the model's answers are not stored on Echo's servers, and Echo does not use them for training. The exceptions and how each upstream provider handles data are in Data handling.

Business

Can businesses use it?

Invoice payment (qualified invoices) and managing keys and budgets per organization and member are in preparation. For questions about adopting it, contact us through https://echohub.io/contact.
